Wow. It's only our first full day day in Cabo and we have already managed to get the rental car very stuck in sand for 3 hours, score sick waves, and even buckle a brand new board.
I'm here with my friend Luke Rife and we met up with photographer Mark Mcinnis today on the East Cape. We scored super fun Shipwrecks with only 4 guys out for about two hours an hour ago... Sooo fun! Luke was doing the craziest full rotation airs ever as I tried to get used to my new Super, it's gonna work amazing.
It hasn't been all cake and muffins though...while trying to find East Cape Road, me made a horrible wrong turn down a sandy road, got stuck once, then made an even worse turn down another sand slope onto a hard packed area right on the beach. We drove in what we thought was the right direction, but that ended up being a dead end with two Mexican guards peering at us as if they had never seen anyone driving on that area of land... we turned around and went the only way we could to get out, which was on the beach. I told Luke to get out and check the sand to make sure it was hard packed enough to make it, which he said it was, so he climbed back in our frontwheel drive rental car and we went for it. We didn't get far, at all, and in no time we were really really stuck. We dug and dug, but we needed help. Luckily some shady Mexicans who worked at a hotel down the way saw us on the struggle and came over to help. We dug even more and after about 2 hours of sweating with our new friends, we were ready to push. Frederico drove expertly in the sand and kept the car moving while Luke and I got a full noodle leg workout pushing the car. We made it, paid our stingy new friends the demanded 40 dollars, got out to the East Cape and scored sick waves.
We're gonna go surf again,
Photos and Video coming eventually
